We have been joining in for Totschool for qiute some time. It has been such fun and it seems the move was upon us before I was ready!
We have completed two weeks of Preschool. I am still struggling to settle into any definite routine. Having an 11 month old trying to join in with all the activities is frustrating for Elijah and myself. Jessica just doesn’t seem interested in the activities I set out for her and she just never sleeps long enough to get anything constructive started. All par for the course and I am sure it will all settle soon enough.
Winter is upon us for definite and I seem to want to count the days till spring already! We are enjoying the warm winter days, but those evenings are just too cold too quickly. Mornings take too long to warm up but we are all so glad when they do!
My aim for the next week is to sort out our themes. I just can’t seem to decide on a Letter of the week, or a themes. we have been trying to do a mix of both but I cant seem to figure it all out yet.
Here are some pictures of the activities we have been up to the past two weeks (those that I took photos of):
Lacing foam animals
Working in our Same or Different workbook from Currclick.
Working on our Phone Number, Some Kumon Mazes, Mastermind puzzle blocks and Dot painting from Making Learning Fun
We worked on our Bible Sticker book
At playgroup the kids made this little man from a toilet paper tube, Elijah made the face using googly eyes, glitter glue, doll hair and stickers
This week we started the theme “South Africa”. I am sure chaos is about the descend on our country and although I am not a huge fan of all this madness, I thought it was a great opportunity to introduce the country.
Coloured in South Africa on a map. Also coloured in the Flag. he sees lots of these flags around at the moment with every traffic light vendor trying to sell them to stick on cars, hats, mirrors! We are trying to learn the first verse of the National anthem…Nkosi sikelel’ iAfrika, Maluphakanyisw’ uphondo lwayo, Yizwa imithandazo yethu, Nkosi sikelela, thina lusapho lwayo.
I think our Anthem is the only one that uses 5 different Languages in four verses!
We were given a sound book that a lady from our church made for Elijah so we used that to introduce the letter E and recap our other letters. We use Jolly Phonics.
Completing a “E” Worksheet from ABC Fun +123 from Shirley (Footprints in our land) and a lesson from our Singapore maths Earlybird
Peg n Play. Elijah tends to want to put the piece in every other spot except the right one until he has no other options…I know he knows where to put it and mostly I have enough patience to put up with the game.
Kumon Cutting. I really need to introduce more free cutting for him. He puts the scissors down so many times with a project!
Used three different sized yellow balls to roll into the holes in the box.
Using cubes and sticks to create ‘things’
E is for Elephant. Resources from Making Learning Fun (i think!)
Playing with out Foam Letters and Numbers.
Finally we used the warm winter afternoon to play soccer…well kind of…
